BRAD RADBY’S SYNOPSIS
At the start of the movie, Adam Sandler runs a joke shop in a nice neighborhood in the big city. He grew up in the neighborhood, and still lives there because he is a lovable man-child who has short and angry outbursts that are funny.
He knows he might need a longer outburst soon, because a mean real estate person, who is Gene Hackman, has bought all the buildings in the city except for Adam’s joke shop, which is where he sells jokes, like joke powder and joke squirters and other jokes. Gene wants to build a mega-center complex, and he’s nice and scowly about it at the same time.
A cute haircutting girl, who is Heather Graham, comes over from the haircut store, where she gives sexy but cute haircuts, when she’s not being sad about selling out to Gene and his exciting money ideas. She tells Adam that she wants to go on a bikini date, but he’s too busy playing with kids and being likable to notice. Somebody needs to grow up!
Adam acts bashful when he asks for a kiss.
When Gene tricks Adam into selling the joke store, Adam sets out to stop the mega-center complex and get his store back. This is the part of the movie with all the funny pranks, like jokes with Gene’s toupee falling off, and Gene getting his toupee dyed pink, and Heather giving Gene’s toupee AIDS.
There’s the long meme where Adam does his jokes and then gives up a little bit, and then everyone learns their lessons really fast at the end of that.
Adam keeps the store, and Gene goes to jail after the kids do one of Adam’s pants-pull-down jokes in front of the city people. Then everyone laughs about something Jewish and they have popsicles.
BRAD RADBY’S PRODUCTION NOTES
1) In one of the deleted scenes, there’s a joke where it was a real prank Adam did on Gene about not knowing his lines, and boy oh boy did I know that about Gene already omg!
2) I think an extra meme on this was that I was still having stress about Piperbraum, and Adam showed me what a doobie was and how it made the stress not as bad.
3) Ruffers was a producer on this one, and he made sure there were doobies around for everyone to get rid of their stress with.
4) Doggies don’t know how to do movie producing! LOL!!!
5) Wife number two was Heather, and that was because we had doobies and gin on the same day, and there was no stress at all when we got unmarried the next day, because we had even more doobies and gin for that!
